Hello! My name is Chelsea Thielen. I was born in St. Cloud, graduated high school from Sauk Rapids-Rice, and obtained my bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University. I have lived in the area my whole life and am very attached to the community. I am running for a seat on the Sartell-St. Stephen school board because I am dedicated to advocating for Sartell-St. Stephen students, staff, and community. I believe that our schools should be a place where every student feels welcome and supported and where families come before politics.
Our district has amazing staff! Having had two children in the district, one who recently graduated from the district and the other will be a junior in high school this year, I can attest to countless positive opportunities they have been provided during their educational experience. I believe it is important to trust and listen to staff expertise, whether it’s related to building maintenance, busing, nursing, nutrition, or education in the classrooms.
I am passionate about ensuring that the voices of our Sartell and St. Stephen community, families, and students are heard. My husband and I moved to Sartell in 2016 for the district, and I want to continue to make this a statewide education destination.
Here are my primary values as a school board candidate:
Safety
I am deeply committed to ensuring the safety of every student, both physically and psychologically. A safe learning environment is fundamental to student success and well-being. I will promote programs and practices that support students' mental health and emotional well-being.
Transparency
I believe that transparency is crucial for building trust and fostering a strong sense of community. I am committed to open communication and ensuring that decisions and policies are made with full visibility. By keeping parents, staff, and community members informed and involved, we can create a more accountable and responsive school district.
Logic
I value logical, evidence-based decision-making that prioritizes the best outcomes for our students. I strive to approach challenges with a rational mindset and believe that most decisions should be grounded in reason and supported by data.
Doing What's Right
Above all, I am dedicated to doing what's right for our students, staff, and community. I am committed to acting with integrity, fairness, fiscal responsibility, and compassion in all my decisions. I will always put the needs and well-being of our students first, striving to create a district where everyone feels valued and respected.
Please donate today and help me create a brighter future for our schools. I am deeply grateful for your generosity and commitment to our district.
Every vote counts towards building a better tomorrow, so make sure your voice is heard on Election Day.
